Sunday, March 16, 2008 was a milestone in the remarkable history of the Olympia Choral Society. On that evening before a packed house in the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, OCS combined with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra in an utterly incredible performance of the Haydn Mass in D Minor, "The Lord Nelson Mass" It was part and parcel of the regular OSO concert series.
Under the baton of maestro Huw Edwards, the auditorium was filled with what was described by at least one expert as a "superb collaboration of symphonic and vocal music the likes of which have not previously been experienced in Olympia." A somewhat less sophisticated observer noted that this experience created "goose bumps on top of goose bumps." As director Terry Shaw observed, it was another page turned for the Olympia Choral Society, and "what a wonderful page it was!"
