SPRING 2006

A NIGHT IN NEW YORK

New York, New York, a wonderful town - the Bronx is up and the Battery’s down!

And between the Bronx and the Battery lies an assortment of musical style unmatched in all the world. This concert visited virtually every venue! There was first the Metropolitan Opera, the ambition of every classical singer. We then repaired to Carnegie Hall where classical artists, composers, and conductors gather to realize their fondest dreams.

Thence to the fringes of Greenwich Village in an after-hours whoopee spot, where the gin is cold but the piano’s hot. We caught some of the best shows on Broadway, including a spectacular medley of songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who is by far the most glittering light of modern musical theater.

We left the Big Apple to the beat of our own Terry Shaw’s spectacular arrangement of New York, New York, basking in the knowledge that our voyage of discovery had brought us to a truly wonderful town!
