From
Garn Turner’s beautifully crafted poster to the ultimate prayer for Peace on Earth, the 2006 Christmas concert was a creative masterpiece. Under Terry’s Shaw’s inspired leadership, our patrons were treated to a magnificent opening with O Magnum Mysterium, a 16th century chant, followed by a variety of other unique and delightful arrangements. Most prominent among them were another 16th century Christmas hymn entitled Coventry Carol, and a truly harmonic Ave Maria.

Capacity audiences were also treated mong other things,
For Unto Us a Child is Born, from Handel’s Messiah, a wonderfully tuneful work of John Rutter entitled What Sweeter Music, and a collection of popular numbers which included an off-the-wall creation of P.D.Q. Bach entitled Throw the Yule Log On, Uncle John.

A guest appearance by the Olympia Youth Chorus, coupled with remarkably eclectic music, made this concert memorable indeed and a resounding success. We performed before some 2200 patrons for the three performances, which is at or near capacity for the North Thurston Performing Arts Center.

Following this performance nearly $7,000 was donated to the the Partners in Prevention Education in support of their efforts on behalf of homeless young persons in our area. As an organization that presents its concerts without charge, we take pride in the generosity of our patrons, whose contributions then benefit local charities.

As one reviewer told us afterwards, "I was awed by the lovely spiritual sound of the choir - - shimmering and dazzling at times, and so very subtle and gentle at other times." We are truly delighted!
